Logistics Section

Logistics Section is one of the sections within DCI headquarters consisting of Transport unit, Workshop, Procurement, Stores and Armoury. The section is charged with the responsibility of ensuring that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations is facilitated in terms of mobility, offices, furniture, kits and equipment from the DCI headquarters to Sub County level. The section distributes and supervises both the Kenya Government owned and leased motor vehicles under the Government of Kenya Lease Programme.
Since the introduction of the Lease Programme by the Government many positive changes have occurred that drastically improved Police Services in terms of reduction of crimes which in turn resulted in enhanced performance of Police work. It has also created more confidence and trust among members of the public because the distribution of vehicles ensured that each and every DCI office has at least one vehicle. Logistics section also supervises the workshop to ensure receipt of quality spare parts and that maintenance of Government owned vehicles is up to standard.

About

The establishment, development and growth of Criminal Investigations Department can be traced to the evolvement of the Kenya Police to which it remains one of the key formations. The first police officers were recruited in 1887 by the Imperial British East Africa Company, I.B.E.A. to provide security for stores in Mombasa. It was from these humble beginnings that the Kenya Police was born.
