Mr Amin said this earlier today at an exchange session with DCI officers from Turkana, West Pokot and Trans Nzoia counties held in The Kitale National Polytechnic, where his two-day official tour in the North Rift region began.

The tour is aimed at having a one-on-one engagement with officers of all cadre at the grassroot level, with a view to address their concerns and the challenges they face in the course of duty.

Earlier, Amin had met the County Intelligence Security Committee, where he highlighted the issues of contraband goods being smuggled into the country and production and sale of second generation liquor, saying they were vices that needed quick action to eradicate.

The country's chief criminal investigator also touched on the issues of land fraud and land disputes in the region, calling upon multi-agency actors to handle such cases painstakingly and with utter sensitivity respectively.

About

The establishment, development and growth of Criminal Investigations Department can be traced to the evolvement of the Kenya Police to which it remains one of the key formations. The first police officers were recruited in 1887 by the Imperial British East Africa Company, I.B.E.A. to provide security for stores in Mombasa. It was from these humble beginnings that the Kenya Police was born.
