DCI HOSTS KISII SCHOOL STUDENTS FOR EDUCATIONAL TOUR
Yesterday, the 28th of April, 2026, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) welcomed a delegation of teachers and students from Kisii School at its headquarters in Nairobi for an educational engagement aimed at exposing the learners to the structure, mandate, and operations of Kenya’s premier investigative agency.
The delegation was received, on behalf of the Director DCI, Mr. Mohamed I. Amin, by Dr. Philip Ouma (PhD), Director of Reforms, Research, Innovation and Development (RRID) and Mr. Dennis Okadapau, Director of the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), along with other senior officers from various investigative units.
During the visit, students explored several specialised departments within the DCI, including Forensic Investigations, Cybercrime, Crime Scene Management, Intelligence Operations, and the Anti-Narcotics Unit. Officers from these units provided insightful presentations on their functions, investigative processes, and the significant role that technology and intelligence play in modern policing.
A key highlight of the engagement was the presentation by the Anti-Narcotics Unit, where students learned about the dangers of drug and substance abuse, the strategies employed by traffickers, and the legal ramifications of narcotics-related offences. Officers encouraged the students to become ambassadors against drug abuse and trafficking in their schools and communities.
In addition to theoretical knowledge, the learners gained practical insights into evidence preservation, forensic analysis, digital safety, cyber threats, and responsible technology use. These interactive sessions offered students a unique opportunity to understand how investigative agencies operate behind the scenes to safeguard national security and uphold justice.
Teachers accompanying the delegation described the visit as highly impactful, noting that it significantly broadened the students’ understanding of public service, leadership, and career opportunities in fields such as criminology, forensic science, cybersecurity, intelligence, and law enforcement.
The DCI reiterated its commitment to mentorship, public awareness, and institutional transparency. The agency emphasises that such engagements are crucial in nurturing informed, disciplined, and security-conscious young citizens.
