NANNY NABBED FOR GRUESOME MURDER OF EMPLOYER

Naivasha Sub-County detectives have apprehended a 30-year-old nanny, Mary Chebet, the prime suspect in the brutal murder of her employer, Jane Wambui Njoroge.

The arrest follows reports received from the husband of the deceased, a resident of the Karai area in Naivasha, that his wife, who works at Naivasha Sub-County Hospital, went missing on 4 July 2025, after leaving her workplace en route home.

Investigations were launched, and detectives zeroed in on Chebet as the prime suspect. Under interrogation, she led the officers to the victim’s home in Karai, where she revealed the horrifying scene, her employer’s body buried in a shallow grave behind the house.

With the assistance of public health officers, the decomposing body was exhumed with pieces of clothes tightly wrapped around the victim’s neck.

Chebet is currently in custody as detectives finalise investigations ahead of her arraignment.

About

The establishment, development and growth of Criminal Investigations Department can be traced to the evolvement of the Kenya Police to which it remains one of the key formations. The first police officers were recruited in 1887 by the Imperial British East Africa Company, I.B.E.A. to provide security for stores in Mombasa. It was from these humble beginnings that the Kenya Police was born.
