TRAFFICKER IN CUFFS, CANNABIS WORTH SH1.5 MILLION SEIZED

Chrispinus Onyango Barasa, 35, found himself in handcuffs following a meticulously planned operation by the Anti-Narcotics Officers based at Malindi Police Station. This intelligence-led endeavour resulted in the seizure of cannabis valued at approximately Sh1,500,000 in the streets.

In the operation that unfolded in Kijiwe Tanga area of Malindi Sub-County, detectives expertly followed a trail of tyre marks that led them directly to a walled compound. Upon entering, they encountered the suspect's vehicle a white Toyota Mark X with registration number KDP 137N alongside its occupants, who swiftly scattered like leaves in the wind at the sight of the officers. However, the driver, Barasa, wasn't quick enough to evade capture and was promptly arrested.

Upon searching the vehicle, the officers uncovered large rolls of bhang weighing a total of 50 kg. Barasa was escorted to Malindi Police Station along with the recovered narcotics.

Meanwhile, efforts are underway to track down those who managed to slip through the net, as the hunt continues apace.

About

The establishment, development and growth of Criminal Investigations Department can be traced to the evolvement of the Kenya Police to which it remains one of the key formations. The first police officers were recruited in 1887 by the Imperial British East Africa Company, I.B.E.A. to provide security for stores in Mombasa. It was from these humble beginnings that the Kenya Police was born.
