TRAFFICKER IN CUFFS, CANNABIS WORTH SH1.5 MILLION SEIZED
Chrispinus Onyango Barasa, 35, found himself in handcuffs following a meticulously planned operation by the Anti-Narcotics Officers based at Malindi Police Station. This intelligence-led endeavour resulted in the seizure of cannabis valued at approximately Sh1,500,000 in the streets.
In the operation that unfolded in Kijiwe Tanga area of Malindi Sub-County, detectives expertly followed a trail of tyre marks that led them directly to a walled compound. Upon entering, they encountered the suspect's vehicle a white Toyota Mark X with registration number KDP 137N alongside its occupants, who swiftly scattered like leaves in the wind at the sight of the officers. However, the driver, Barasa, wasn't quick enough to evade capture and was promptly arrested.
Upon searching the vehicle, the officers uncovered large rolls of bhang weighing a total of 50 kg. Barasa was escorted to Malindi Police Station along with the recovered narcotics.
Meanwhile, efforts are underway to track down those who managed to slip through the net, as the hunt continues apace.
