SUSPECTS ARRAIGNED, INVESTIGATIONS ONGOING

Contrary to online claims of police inaction, suspects arrested with illegal weapons have been arraigned.

Two suspects, Evans Otieno Ongere and Abel Onyango Owuor, arrested in possession of a Phantom pistol along the Kisumu-Busia Highway, were presented before the Principal Magistrate’s Court in Vihiga, where detectives secured a 14-day custodial order. The recovered firearm is now at the National Forensic Lab for ballistic analysis.

Another suspect, Christopher Okello, rescued from mob injustice after he was found in possession of a bow and an arrow, was also arraigned and pleaded not guilty. He was admitted to a Bond of Sh100, 000. The case is scheduled for mention on May 14, 2026.

About

The establishment, development and growth of Criminal Investigations Department can be traced to the evolvement of the Kenya Police to which it remains one of the key formations. The first police officers were recruited in 1887 by the Imperial British East Africa Company, I.B.E.A. to provide security for stores in Mombasa. It was from these humble beginnings that the Kenya Police was born.
