SECOND SUSPECT NABBED AS DCI CLOSES IN ON HIGHWAY MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT SYNDICATE

Detectives from Makindu Police Station have arrested Stephen Kioko, the second suspect linked to the highway motor vehicle theft that occurred on July 13, 2025, along the Mombasa–Nairobi highway.

Kioko’s arrest follows the earlier arrest of his accomplice, Musyoka Mutava and the recovery of the stolen Subaru Trezia at Ukia, Makueni Sub-County.

The investigative trail led detectives to Kioko, believed to have played a key role in coordinating the attack and getaway.

He is now in custody, undergoing processing to enjoin his case with that of Mutava, currently before the court.

About

The establishment, development and growth of Criminal Investigations Department can be traced to the evolvement of the Kenya Police to which it remains one of the key formations. The first police officers were recruited in 1887 by the Imperial British East Africa Company, I.B.E.A. to provide security for stores in Mombasa. It was from these humble beginnings that the Kenya Police was born.
