Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) detectives in Mombasa have dismantled a drug trafficking ring, apprehending three traffickers and seizing cannabis sativa worth Sh6,000, 000 in the streets.Β

The operation unfolded in Mtopanga Area, in Mombasa County, where detectives acted on a tip-off that led them to a two-bedroom house bustling with illicit activity.

Upon storming the premises, the officers uncovered three sacks filled to the brim with cannabis sativa, tipping the scales at 200 kilograms. Alongside the prohibited herb, they also confiscated a Honda motorcycle, registration number KMGA 080F, believed to be used in the distribution of the narcotics.

The three suspects; Ruth Ayoo Ouko, Peter Juma Kamito, and Dennis Wandera Okuku were swiftly taken into custody, their smiles wiped away as the reality of the situation set in.

They are now in custody undergoing processing pending arraignment. Meanwhile, the recovered narcotics are being detained as exhibits.

This operation underscores the DCI’s commitment in the fight against the scourge of narcotics trafficking through intelligence-led operations across the country.Β

About

The establishment, development and growth of Criminal Investigations Department can be traced to the evolvement of the Kenya Police to which it remains one of the key formations. The first police officers were recruited in 1887 by the Imperial British East Africa Company, I.B.E.A. to provide security for stores in Mombasa. It was from these humble beginnings that the Kenya Police was born.
