In a desperate bid to dodge the long arm of the law, a trafficker tried to turn himself into a walking drug mule. Little did he know, the vigilant officers at the Suo Roadblock on the BusiaβKisumu Highway were alert to every trick in the book.
As the motorcycle rolled to a halt, an unusual discovery immediately caught their attention. Strapped tightly to the pillion passengerβs back was not a backpack for a weekend getaway, but rather eight packages of cannabis sativa cleverly tied with straps.Β
It was an attempt to outsmart the security checks, but instead of a smooth trafficking operation, they earned themselves a one-way ticket straight to the police station.
A further search revealed even more packages of cannabis tucked away inside a black travel bag. The total haul weighed 13.9 kilograms, with an estimated street value of Sh417,000.
The duo, Mathayo Mwanzi Anyiga and Moses Nyamaka, now find themselves in police custody undergoing processing pending arraignment. Meanwhile, the recovered narcotics and impounded motorcycle are being detained as exhibits.
