TRAFFICKER NABBED AS POLICE SEIZE STASH OF NARCOTIC DRUGS
Law enforcement officers manning a security roadblock in Kanyonyoo along the Thika-Garissa Highway have nabbed a crafty trafficker in the act, recovering a stash of cannabis in his possession.
The trafficker, 27-year-old Stephen Oronje, was on board a Nissan matatu, blissfully unaware that today would mark the end of his illicit journey.
As the matatu rolled to a stop, officers undertook a routine check. Little did they know that their keen eyes would soon unveil a hidden world of crime.
When they rummaged through Oronje’s belongings, they unearthed a black pack that exuded foreboding. Inside, wrapped tightly in yellow cellotape, were bales of cannabis sativa.
Buried in the stash were eight packs of Rizla rolling papers, each containing 100 sheets, along with a digital scale.
Oronje had been caught orchestrating a clandestine operation right under the noses of officers, with plans to flood Kitui town with his intoxicating wares, which he claimed to have sourced from Bungoma County.
Escorted under the watchful gaze of vigilant officers, Oronje was taken to the Kanyonyoo Police Station, where he is now undergoing processing pending arraignment.
