SUSPECT TO BE CHARGED FOR GIVING FALSE INFORMATION TO A PUBLIC OFFICER

Following thorough investigations by detectives and subsequent advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Margaret Wairimu Magugu is to be charged with the offence of giving false information to a person employed in the public service.

The charges stem from an ongoing investigation being conducted by detectives from the Land Fraud Investigation Unit (LFIU), in which Mrs Magugu is the complainant against Karura Investment Ltd.

She is accused of knowingly providing false information to investigators in an attempt to mislead the inquiry and wrongfully implicate the suspect.

The matter was mentioned today before the Milimani Law Courts for plea-taking. However, Mrs Magugu failed to appear in court and was represented by her advocates, who informed the court that she had fallen ill earlier in the day and was therefore unable to attend.

The court adjourned the matter and set January 13, 2026, as the date for plea-taking, marking it as the final adjournment.

About

The establishment, development and growth of Criminal Investigations Department can be traced to the evolvement of the Kenya Police to which it remains one of the key formations. The first police officers were recruited in 1887 by the Imperial British East Africa Company, I.B.E.A. to provide security for stores in Mombasa. It was from these humble beginnings that the Kenya Police was born.
