ARREST OF A POLICE IMPOSTOR

Law Enforcement Officers in Meru have apprehended Lucky Mwenda, notorious for impersonating police officers, who has been terrorising members of the public in Imenti North Sub-County.

The arrest was made possible thanks to members of the public who provided crucial tip-offs. Acting swiftly, Law Enforcement Officers captured Mwenda while in possession of his numberless getaway motorcycle.

A search of his belongings led to the recovery of a military jacket, a military knee pad, a military hat, a camel bag and a dagger.

Mwenda is now in custody, undergoing processing as authorities prepare for his arraignment.

About

The establishment, development and growth of Criminal Investigations Department can be traced to the evolvement of the Kenya Police to which it remains one of the key formations. The first police officers were recruited in 1887 by the Imperial British East Africa Company, I.B.E.A. to provide security for stores in Mombasa. It was from these humble beginnings that the Kenya Police was born.
