COMBATING HARD DRUGS

Two suspects of trafficking in narcotics have been arrested by Coast region anti-narcotics detectives, following an early morning raid at a homestead in Boa, Kombani area.

The two, Kassim Omar Konerwa, 34 and Issa Omar Konerwa, 24 were arrested with 12 sacks of marijuana, believed to have been stored at the homestead pending distribution.

They have been placed in custody pending arraignment.

The arrest of the two comes at a time when major operations by the anti-drug detectives continue across the region, with a view to combat the drug use and trafficking menace that had once rocked the area.

About

The establishment, development and growth of Criminal Investigations Department can be traced to the evolvement of the Kenya Police to which it remains one of the key formations. The first police officers were recruited in 1887 by the Imperial British East Africa Company, I.B.E.A. to provide security for stores in Mombasa. It was from these humble beginnings that the Kenya Police was born.
