GREENING THE NATION: NPS OFFICERS DEDICATE THE DAY TO PLANTING TREES IN KIAMBU

Today the DCI family joined hands with counterparts at the Kiambu County Police Headquarters in a tree planting exercise that saw over 1,200 trees planted at Kiambu Police Station, Kiambu Primary School and Kirigiti Girls Reception and Rehabilitation School.

The initiative aimed at enhancing the areas' green cover, with the long term goal of combating climate change. It also aligns with the government's vision to grow 15 billion trees by 2032.

Championing the drive, Heads of Directorates at DCI led their troops in the exercise that added to the over 17,000 trees so far planted by the Institution since the launch of the initiative by President William Ruto.

Addressing the participants through his representative Mr Baraza Walumoli, AIG, the Director DCI Mr Mohamed Amin sounded a clarion call for not just planting but growing the trees, pointing out the many benefits that come with increasing the country's forest cover.

It has been bestowed on the Head of Reforms, Research and Innovation Devt (RRID) Dr. Philip Ouma, PhD, the responsibility of ensuring the sustainability of the tree growing initiative
