ARREST OF MURDER SUSPECTS

Kisauni Sub-County detectives have arrested two individuals connected to the brutal murder of Stephen Opello, which occurred on November 22, 2025, in Chembani, Mtopanga.

The suspects, Julius Otieno Mageta, aka Junior, and his accomplice, Mohammed Omar Hamisi, aka Babu, were flushed out of their hideout and arrested, thanks to a crucial tip-off from members of the public.

The duo viciously assaulted Opello, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to Coast General Hospital by good Samaritans, clinging to life, but the injuries proved fatal. He succumbed while receiving treatment.

About

The establishment, development and growth of Criminal Investigations Department can be traced to the evolvement of the Kenya Police to which it remains one of the key formations. The first police officers were recruited in 1887 by the Imperial British East Africa Company, I.B.E.A. to provide security for stores in Mombasa. It was from these humble beginnings that the Kenya Police was born.
