ARREST OF MURDER SUSPECTS
Detectives domiciled at the DCI Homicide Bureau have arrested Cecilia Wangari Kirisa, 39, in connection with the murder of Maxwell Wamwea, which occurred on May 11, 2022, in Kasarani area in Nairobi.
Initially, the case was reported to Kasarani Police Station as a mob injustice incident. However, following a complaint letter received on November 19, 2023, the DCI initiated fresh investigations.
After reviewing the resulting file, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) recommended that Wangari, along with another suspect who is still at large, be charged with the murder of the deceased.
Wangari was apprehended at her hideout in an Airbnb in Thindigwa, Kiambu County, and is scheduled to be arraigned in court today.
In a separate incident, another murder suspect, Martin Asembo Masemo, 32, was also arrested following ongoing investigations into the murders of George Njuguna Ngung’u, which occurred on July 31, 2024, and Victoria Mumbua Moloki, which took place on September 27, 2024. Both victims were taxi drivers in Mombasa and Migori, respectively.
Masemo is believed to be an accomplice of Edwin Kipngetich, who is already facing charges in the Nakuru High Court.
He will appear in court for a custodial order application to allow the investigators to conclude their investigations.
Meanwhile, efforts to trace and apprehend additional suspects connected to these murders are in full swing.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations reaffirms its commitment to conducting thorough investigations to ensure justice is served.
