ACCUSED IN CHILOBA'S MURDER SLAPPED WITH 50-YEAR JAIL TERM
Jackton Odhiambo, the prime suspect in the homicide of varsity student Edwin Kiprotich Kiptoo alias Chiloba has been sentenced to 50 years in prison in a judgement passed by the High Court of Eldoret.

The deceased person, Edwin Kiprotich Kiptoo alias Chiloba, then a third year student at Moi University went missing on the night 31st December, 2022, after celebrating the new year at Tamasha Lounge within Eldoret City while in the company of his roommate and friend, Jackton Odhiambo alias Lizer.
Immediately after his disappearance, his friend Lizer was seen with the deceased’s iPhone and made several Mpesa transactions using the deceased's phone including purchasing a metallic box in which the deceased's body was stashed and disposed.
On January 3, 2023, the deceased’s body was discovered beside a road in Kapseret area.
Homicide detectives who probed the case found Jackton Odhiambo culpable of the murder most foul and arraigned him at the Eldoret High Court. As the investigation progressed, it was discovered that the deceased had been sodomised by the accused person immediately before his brutal murder.
A total of 23 witnesses were called to testify in the two-year long full hearing. On Monday, December 16, 2024, the presiding judge Justice Reuben Nyakundi at the Eldoret High Court sentenced the accused to serve 50 years imprisonment.
